  22. I just collected a CONNER CP3500F, 200MB hard disk and tried to install it
  23. inside the MegaFile 44 box. My intention is to use the Conner ddrive as the
  24. main Hard disk and change the re-connect the Syquest drive as 2nd drive so
  25. that I can use Syquest for backing up the data from the 200MB. However, I ran
  26. into 2 problems as follow:
  27.  
  28. 1. Atari uses Hard disk with SCSI parity disable but the Conner 200MB drive
  29.    is factory set with SCSI parity enable. The Conner 100MB has a jumper(E4)
  30.    which can be installed to disable SCSI parity. The Conner 200MB PC board
  31.    I found the solder points mark E4 but no pins installed for the jumper.
  32.    My question is: Is it save to install the pins and use jumper on this drive?

  34. 2. Another problem is: The Mega file 44 has an extra 50 pin connector probably
  35.    for another SCSI drive on the host adapter board, extra power supply plug as
  36.    well as a bracket which pre drilled holes which perfectly match teh mounting
  37.    holes on my Conner hard disk. However, when I connect additional hard disk
  38.    I can't set the SCSI ID of the new drive. Apparently the SCSI ID is to be
  39.     set by the dip switch on host adapter card.The syquest is set at SCSI 0
  40.     from factory and when I try changing Syquest HD to SCSI 1 the hard disk is
  41.     no longer recognise by the computer.

  43. I  came across a message here few months ago that one of the 'GURU' in Germany
  44. had succesfully installed 2nd Hard disk to his MegaFile 44. I shall be most
  45. appreciative if any kind soul Guru will help me on the above problems.

  61. The 25Mhz version must be fantastic.

  63. Don't get me wrong. I like Atari and I have been using the Atari since 1985.
  64. I still have the first 520ST as well as Mega 4. However, the following new is
  65. so tempting. I prefer to use my Mega4 with Turbo16 chip and Spectre GCR than
  66. the Mac Plus which given to me by the University. I am now waiting for the TT.
  67. But with only 16MHz? I am not so sure now whether I should keep on waiting.

  69. I am not intend to start the flame war. My point is that
  70.  
  71. Atari never bother to offer educational discount and now my students can buy
  72. a Mac SE with Hard disk for  lot less than getting Mega 2 + Monochrome Monitor
  73. and no hard disk. They also get free Hypercard with the Mac. Of course we all
  74. know that the Mega is far superior but I can no longer recommend them to by
  75. Atari with 10% discount when they can get 40% discount from Apple.

  84.      Here's the basics once again on the Commodore Student Dicounts:
  85.  
  86.         1.  All certified schools, teachers at such schools, and ONLY
  87. post-secondary students qualify.
  88.         2.  The necessary forms and current price list are available only
  89. through your local dealers.  Contact C= if you need to find one.
  90.         3.  The discounts are from 45% to 50% on packaged systems.  Separate
  91. components are at 40% off and must be purchased with a CPU (unless the
  92. component deal has been extended again.)
  93.         4.  Payment is upfront in cash or certified check, only one purchase
  94. per year, and lots of other assorted legalese.
  95.  
  96.      And now for the rumors:  I heard a few days ago from the local dealer that
  97. the A3000 will be available on the discount plan at the same savings.  A
  98. hypothesized system of an A3000/16 and a multisync monitor should be right
  99. around $2000.  Definitely not bad.

  121. exception of Marshall Lake - please send a phone #), sorry, but the
  122. games have all been sold.  I have found GEnie to be an excellent source
  123. of pre-owned games, you might try there.

  146.    Steve, that is not what I stated at the meeting. I said that it is on it's
  147. way to the FCC. To the best of my knowledge, it has not been certified.

  186. I have an unused, 1 year old ICD host adapter.  I bought it planning to
  187. put together my own HD system, but was having so much trouble  with the
  188. old hard drive I bought that I bought a Megafile 30.
  189. I'll send it, the original ICD disk and documentation
  190. and a ICD HA to SCSI cable (no Atari DMA cable included) postage paid
  191. to the first offer of $80 OBO.

  215. I think that the recently posted "vault" and "key" will help you with
  216. this.  It allows you to set a threshold for the size of file that
  217. will be split.

  252. i believe that this is the limit that TOS 1.4 and onwards has imposed
  253. for GEM autoboot programs. If you try to install more than one
  254. autoboot program, only the last one will be installed.
